By accessing and using Japanese Vocab (japanesevocab.app), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Japanese Vocab is a free, web-based tool for practicing Japanese vocabulary recognition. The app presents Japanese words and asks you to pick the correct English translation from multiple choices. It is provided as-is for educational purposes.

You agree to use the app only for its intended purpose. You may not:

• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the app's operation
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the app
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose

You may optionally sign in with Google or Apple to back up your practice data (settings, stats, and mistake list) to the cloud. By signing in, you agree to have your practice data stored on our servers (Cloudflare KV). You can sign out at any time to stop syncing. You can also permanently delete your cloud data from the settings page. See our privacy policy for details on how synced data is handled.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party account (Google or Apple). We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from compromise of your third-party credentials.

The app's design, code, and original content are the property of Japanese Vocab and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the app's content without permission.

Vocabulary data is sourced from the JMdict dictionary project and is used under its license terms. JLPT level classifications are based on community word lists and are not official.

While we strive for accuracy in all vocabulary data, we do not guarantee that the app is free from errors. The app is intended as a practice tool and should not be relied upon as the sole source of Japanese language instruction.

The app is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Japanese Vocab and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the app at any time without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
